Leipzig Mayor Says His Delegation Has a Successful Visit to Addis

The Mayor of Leipzig, Mayor Burkhard Jung said on Saturday (February 14) said he and his delegation had a very successful visit to Addis Ababa. Mayor Jung, speaking at a joint press conference with Addis Ababa Mayor, Diriba Kumaat the end of a three day visit to Addis Ababa, said he had been able to make plans for further collaboration between the two cities in the future.

He said the relationship of the two twinned cities would be further expanded consolidated on the basis of mutual benefit in various areas, including science, technology, culture, youth experience sharing, administration and capacity building, he stated. He said support the Leipzig city administration has been providing to Addis Ababa in green city development and park management, technical and vocational education as well the health sector would continue.

The Mayor, who led a 110 strong delegation drawn from the business community, universities, and governmental bodies, thanked the people of Addis Ababa for their hospitality and expressed his admiration for the city’s all-round infrastructural development. Mayor Diriba Kuma, recalling successful two-day business forum held in Addis Ababa and the opportunities it provided for initiating Leipzig businesses to invest in the city, said the visit was an opportunity for the two sisterly cities to further strengthen their friendship. He also thanked Leipzig city for its willingness to share best experiences in housing development, road construction, education, health and technical and vocational education sectors. Their cooperation would also contribute to the boosting of Ethio-Germany relationship.
