City Bids to Repose Unutilised Plots

The Addis Abeba City Administration Land Development & Management Bureau calls for the repossession of 138 unused lands across the city.

In its nine-month report to the standing committee of the Municipality Affairs on April 10, 2018, the Bureau proposed to put the lands in the bank.

Out of the total, 18 of them were unutilised city administration failures.

For the owners of the lands, a written warning signed by Abate Sitotaw, deputy mayor of the city, was distributed nine months ago, notifying them to start the constructions within six months.

The standing committee had decided to repossess the lands given to the embassies with a decision of giving them replacements when they needed the plots. The committee members also decided to seize the properties which were possed by governmental institutions, and Midroc Ethiopia.

However, Midroc’s case is still pending as a negotiation is taking place with a high-level official.

In the third quarter of the current fiscal year, the Bureau collected two billion Birr.
