Bankers Association Re-Elects Addisu As Head

Ethiopian Bankers Association (EBA) re-elected Addisu Haba, president of Debub Global Bank, as its sitting president for the coming three years.

During the general assembly that was held last week, the Association elected Abe Sano, President of Oromia International Bank (OIB), as its vice president, replacing Bekalu Zeleke, president of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE).

EBA also elected presidents of CBE, Awash, OIB, Dashen, United, Nib, Debub, Zemen, Berhan, Anbessa, Addis and Abyssinia as members of the board of directors.

Addisu Habba, married and a father of two, is an economics graduate of Addis Abeba University (AAU) and obtained his Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from Italy. Before joining Debub Global Bank three years ago, he served as the president of Bank of Abyssinia (BoA) for five years.

The Ethiopian Bank Association was established in 2002 with the participation of nine banks. Now, all private and government banks are members of the association.
