Deloitte on behalf of one of its clients is advertising for the following positions. The CLIENT is a Company engaged in diverse lines of business including Pharmaceuticals, Tea Processing, Agriculture, and Packaging. Position: Head of Sales – 2 positions (re-advertised)
To plan, organize, and coordinate the overall sales activities in order to meet Company sales targets and profitability. The Head of Sales is expected to jointly be responsible for contributing towards the achievement of the company’s strategic and operational targets and overall business aims.

Essential duties and responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Meet/exceed the annual sales volumes, market share values and growth plans of the Company.
  • Provide leadership to the Business Unit’s sales team with a focus on strategic analysis, program development and resource management.
  • Set the Sales strategy for the whole market and ensure that the plans are executed.
  • As a member of the executive committee, provide strategic input on sales/commercial matters and contribute fully to the development of the Company’s key plans.
  • Build a pool of Sales talent through both recruitment and individual development, and optimize engagement levels within the Sales team. 
  • Improve and then maintain the quality of strategic sales operations planning via on-going in-depth analysis of market trends and a clear understanding of the company’s strengths and weaknesses.
  • Act as an external ambassador for the company amongst the trade and strive to make the Company the preferred supplier to all key trade channels.

Required competencies

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes sales strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems. 
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. 
  • Cultural empathy with people in all regions of Ethiopia.
  • The ability to inspire customers and colleagues to go the extra mile.

Job Requirements:

Required education and experience
  • At least 10 years Sales experience
  • At least 3 years sales leadership experience in FMCG environment
  • A good Bachelor’s degree (or higher)
  • Demonstrable evidence of having successfully led a sales team to achieve major objectives
  • Experience in Tea and Pharmaceuticals industries is a plus.
