Job Description:

Position is accountable for the Human Resources function for operations in Ethiopia and will manage the overall human resource function including recruitment, selection, performance management, training and development, and succession planning to help achieve the mission and objectives of the Company through maintaining committed, motivated and skilled work force. As integral part of Management Team, the HRM is expected to jointly be responsible for contributing towards the achievement of the company’s strategic and operational targets and overall business aims.

Essential duties and responsibilities
Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Country Manager and functionally reporting to the Regional Human Resources Manager in Nairobi the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
•    Develops and implements new HR strategy, policies, practices and procedures to meet the evolving needs of the Company and ensures implementation.
•    Steer project country transformation to the new way of operating and work closely with Regional HR manager.
•    Take accountability for managing the HR operational support for our staff on the different sites.
•    Coordinate activities delivered in-house and ensure accuracy and delivery of data, information relating to HR function.
•    Leads recruitment and placement.
•    Develops staff development and career support plans to ensure that they are consistent with the overall Company’s goals, policies on staff development and career support.
•    Establishes performance management system and supports appreciation of the system in the organization.
•    Assesses training needs, identifies, designs and delivers training programs to staff at all levels throughout the Company.
•    Ensure use of standardized processes and systems at local level and provide feedback relating to HR processes.
•    Develop and manage compensation and benefits policies, including payroll administration.
•    In liaison with other managers, administer discipline, welfare programs relating to medical schemes, pension scheme and ensuring required documentation is in place.
•    Ensure all HR activities are in compliance with legal requirements including the Labor Law of Ethiopia.
•    Supervise administrative function, travel and monitor Work permits processing for expatriate staff.
•    Manages all risks relating to Human resources. 

Required competencies
•    Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources. 
•    Good understanding of industrial relations.
•    Knowledge of Ethiopian Labor laws, legal codes, government regulations pertaining to labor and human resource management. 
•    Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work. 
•    Attention to detail.
•    Integrity and trust worthiness.

Job Requirements:

Required education and experience
•    Advanced university BA degree, Master's degree or equivalent in human resources management, business or public administration, or related field
•    A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management
•    At least 2 years of experience as a Human Resources Manager in business sector, regional experience an added advantage
•    Experience of working with employees from different cultures
•    Strong proficiency in basic PC applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with a general understanding of data analysis techniques
•    Good knowledge and skills of ERP is an asset. 
•    Experience in Change Management (e.g. acquisition, organization transformation & Process Implementation)
